Sports First Aid (SHORT COURSE)

How it works

Designed for delivery to Year 10 or Senior (Year 11-12) classes e.g. HPE, Sport Academy, Recreation.

Includes both:

  • The nationally recognised First Aid and CPR competencies, plus
  • An additional 2 competencies from the nationally recognised ‘Sports Trainer Level 1’ skill set –
    • SISSSPT302A Provide initial management of sports injuries
    • SISSSPT303A Conduct basic warm-up and cool-down programs

Delivered across 1 or 2 (or more) terms.

Binnacle’s ‘Sports First Aid’ is the perfect fit for schools:

  • Looking for a Year 10 option in their sports academy programs prior to commencing the Binnacle Certificate III in Year 11.
  • Looking for a semester of work (or spread across multiple semesters) to bolster an existing subject offering.
  • Who may not be able to offer a full Certificate III program (e.g. Sport and Recreation or Fitness).

  • Vocational Competence Update (VCU Sport) for Teachers
  • Annual resource induction for all participating teachers, inclusive of industry-specific and VET professional development
  • Ongoing PD and in-servicing
  • ALL program materials are developed for you – including unit plans, assessment tasks, and marking guides.  We save you time!
  • Binnacle Lounge (learning management system) – the centrepiece for all program resources, learning, assessment and up to the minute student progress reporting.  
  • Fast turnaround of certificates – 5 day (maximum) processing period.

School requirements

HPE Teacher (Program Deliverer)
  • Health & First Aid trained
  • A current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment 
  • Sports First Aid experience
Sport Programs
  • Access to programs, games or competitions where students will assist as Junior Sports Trainers.

What Students Achieve

  • A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment – 4 competencies towards SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness
  • Maximum 2 QCE Credits (QLD Schools)
